Responsible Natural Stone Sourcing

Natural stone can be long-lived and repairable, but quarrying, processing, water, energy, transport and worker safety still matter. Atlas treats responsible sourcing as a supplier-evaluation and project-documentation question, not a generic green claim.

Natural stone used in a landscaped outdoor setting

Source transparency

Know which quarry and factory are supplying the approved material, especially when a trade name is used by multiple sources.

Material efficiency

Optimize slab nesting, module sizes and cutting plans to reduce offcuts; plan spare pieces strategically rather than reactively.

Water & processing

Ask processors about water recirculation, slurry handling and maintenance of cutting/polishing systems.

Long service life

Use suitable stone, thickness, fixing, finish and maintenance so surfaces can remain in service and be refinished rather than replaced prematurely.

Packing efficiency

Balance protection with crate weight, container utilization and site handling so damage and unnecessary material use are reduced.

Project evidence

For LEED, BREEAM or other frameworks, rely on project-specific documentation and current supplier evidence—not unsupported assumptions.

Frequently asked

Questions buyers often ask

What information should I include in a responsible-sourcing inquiry?

Send the stone name or preferred color, required format and thickness, approximate quantity, finish, destination and timing. Drawings, schedules and reference samples are especially useful for cut-to-size projects.

Does Atlas own a quarry?

Atlas Global Trading Inc. operates as an independent sourcing and trading company. We coordinate supply with established quarry owners and processing factories in Turkey rather than limiting projects to a single quarry.

Can Atlas combine multiple Turkish stones in one project?

Yes. Multi-material schedules can be coordinated across compatible partner factories, with attention to samples, production timing, packing and shipment planning.

Can buyers request current slab or block photos?

Yes, subject to supplier availability. For natural stone, current-lot photos and representative samples are an important part of confirming color, vein movement and acceptable range before production.
